The BMW M5 2012 - total photo leak
Actually, it’s not the first time we’ve had a leak of photos of the 2012 BMW M5. Back in April – after a private BMW event to show off the new M5 – we had some photos sneakily snapped by one of the attendees on their mobile, or so it seemed. But this leak of photos of the 2012 BMW M5 is a different kettle of fish altogether - these are low-ish resolution versions of an official set of photos of the new M5.
The LA Auto Show has just announced the competitors in its 6th annual Design Challenge. The entries - coming from the Southern California design studios of Audi, General Motors, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota - all revolve around a set theme which asked designers to envision the ultimate ‘youthmobile' for the year 2030. Automobiles have always played an important role in Southern California, enhancing the social lives of youth and acting as a means of self expression.

When the good Mr Clarkson decided Top Gear should do a piece about a Land Rover Discovery using its incredible off-road abilities to climb a mountain in Scotland we were all astonished that – despite a couple of hiccups on the way – he managed to get one of Land Rover’s finest up a mountain where cars were never designed to go. What’s even more astonishing is that Ford managed to do the same 100 years go, but they used a standard Model T and choose Britain’s tallest mountain – Ben Nevis – for the stunt. The 20 horsepower Model T was driven up Ben Nevis as a publicity stunt for Ford’s agent in Edinburgh.
